While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards, and the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. For those of you that maybe haven't heard much about Hades, allow me to give you a quick run-down: players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Having played the game myself, I can honestly say that I happen to agree with the folk who can't get enough of its rich artistic endeavors and its array of striking Olympian gods. Thanks to Kotaku, we get to have an in-depth look at The Art of Hades in which many believe it to be one of the best-looking games of 2020. Set in the gritty and looming Underworld of Greek myth, Hades still manages to provide a palette of electrifying colors and this is all thanks to the incredibly talented and innovative artists that make up the team at Supergiant. More than just a hack and slash title, Hades has acquired unprecedented success for its interesting storylines, stunning voice-overs and also unique character representation but one of the key sticking points for Supergiant Games' roguelike, underworld title is the sheer amount of artistic talent that's piped into this steller dungeon crawler. Some say having a high affinity with the Olympians can also help trigger Persephone's dialogue.Hades is simply one of those games that you could spend hours soaking in its visual beauty. Zagreus and the goddess hitch a ride to the House of Hades through Charon's boat, going through the different realms of the Underworld, and while the credits roll, Orpheus and Eurydice can be heard singing "In the Blood."īut while some believe it's the last thing they can do, there are still tons of post-game content, including the Epilogue.Īccording to ShackNews, the requirements for unlocking the Epilogue is a little fuzzy, but practically, players have to reach the true ending and then keep on playing and beating the game multiple times until they can get a Heat Level 8.Īlso, be on the lookout for an exclamation point on top of Persephone, and then interact with her for a new mission dialogue, which unlocks the "Hades" Epilogue many have been trying to unlock. This can get exhausting, but on the tenth run, Hades will finally let Zagreus pass, and by the time you reach Persephone for the final time, she will say it's time for her to return to the Underworld. The second time you defeat Hades and reach Greece, talk to Persephone again, and she will have a different dialogue, so you need to exhaust all of her possible dialogues by defeating the final boss a total of ten times. However, it does reset the bounties for defeating the four bosses.īasically, to reach "Hades'" true ending, you need to defeat Hades again and again. However, this time, the King of the Underworld will have placed a Pact of Punishment on the window that the hero uses to escape, which would add modifiers to each level to make them more challenging, as per ScreenRant. How to Reach the True Endingĭuring your conversation with Persephone, she will tell Zagreus that he is bound to the Underworld much like his father, Hades and that he cannot remain in the realm of the living, so in the end, the main hero will fall ill and be sent back to where he began. Now, here's where it gets a little tricky. There's really nothing you can do in Greece except do some fishing and talk to the only non-playable character in that area, Persephone, Zagreus' own mother. Upon winning, Zagreus will climb out of the Underworld and enter a new area: Greece. However, in the early access, Zagreus will end up getting killed and sent to the House of Hades where he can restart his journey-and that's even when you win.īut in the "Hades" 1.0 release, this is no longer true. The Final BossĪs noted, there really is not much of a difference between the early access and the final game, so like before, the final boss will remain to be Hades, Zagreus' father, as, after all, Zagreus has fought his way out of the Underworld, and it only makes sense for him to fight his father as the final opponent. So, what is the best and canonically accepted ending, and how do "Hades" players get it?ĭISCLAIMER: The following guide will contain MAJOR SPOILERS.
